How Cold Does It Get Here?
"Snow Comes to
Montebello City Park"
by Anne Donofrio-Holter
Thanks to the City of
Montebello, the Montebello Gang Diversion Task Force, Telacu Industries,
Attina Companies, National Environmental Services and the Montebello Rotary
Club, snow came to City Park on December 15.
Over 400 children, as well
as adults, were able to frolic in 27 tons of freshly blown snow as well as
slide down a specially constructed snow slide on inverted rubber trash can
lids. A special Christmas train provided rides around the park and
there were holidays snacks for all who attended. A raffle of 25
beautifully decorated Christmas trees, donated by Mike and Rosemary Torres,
was held. In addition, over 400 whole pies and half gallons of ice
cream were donated by the Heart of Compassion Food Bank in Montebello.
"This is a wonderful,
family-oriented event giving kids, and others who might not have the
opportunity, a chance to have some fun in the snow," said Montebello
Mayor Bill Molinari, who coordinated the snow delivery and snow slide
setup. "It's my favorite program of the year."
"The Montebello Rotary
Club is proud to partner with the City of Montebello and others in bringing
this wonderful event to our community," said Tom Millhouse, Rotary Club
president.
