"Junior Fire Academy Celebrates Graduation"

From Montebello Today, summer, 2009

With family and friends in attendance, and after a three week rigorous program, the young people of the Junior Fire Academy celebrated their graduation last month [during the summer, 2009].  The program teaches young people fire safety and also has them participate in a variety of firefighting events.  The Junior Fire Academy is hosted by the Montebello Fire Department and has been coordinated by Fire Engineer Henry Velasquez for the past seven years.  The participants received their certificates of completion at the graduation exercise, where Fire Chief James Duncan congratulated each candidate.
