| The code section that deals with garage sales is 17.10.230 MMC and is
available online at www.cityofmontebello.com.
The site will give you most of the information which you need regarding garage
and yard sales. Add the following.
1. We do not allow the sale of new items, as this would
be conducting a business without a license. For example, if someone were to
offer for sale one new pair of shoes which was in the box and which they
never wore, this would not be a violation. If someone were to have
numerous pairs of new shoes for sale, this would be considered to be operating a shoe store.
2. Sales of any controlled merchandise is not
allowed. Examples would be alcohol, tobacco products, spray paint sold to minors, etc.
