enable a community to fund socially-useful activities which otherwise would not have funding;
generate more business for businesses in the community;
teach individuals self-reliance, selflessness, and sustainable solutions.

Which "Socially-Useful" Activities?
The following list is not complete, because, for example, it does not include high schoolers being paid by a local currency to tutor middle schoolers. Nevertheless, we see that a local currency could make possible many activities to improve the quality of life in a community.

Rules for the Local Currency:
the local currency is meant to improve the quality of life for people who labor, learn or live in a community, this without partisanship or discrimination;
the local currency is to abide by federal, state, and local laws at all time;
the staff creating and operating the local currency is to employ best practices at all times, as explained in chapter 16 of this textbook.
